Spectrum Brings Veterans to P.S / I.S 49 in Middle Village
Spectrum Organized Special Event as Part of HISTORY'S "Take a Veteran to School Day

NEW YORK CITY, Nov. 14, 2019 — To commemorate Veterans Day, Spectrum organized a special event as part of HISTORY’s Take a Veteran to School Day. Today’s outreach initiative was held at P.S. / I.S 49 in Middle Village, and it connected veterans with fourth-grade students there to hear their stories of service and learn more about Veterans Day.
New York State Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. joined the activities with local veterans who shared their stories and experiences during a question-and-answer session. The veterans received a heartfelt “thank you” from the students for their service.
Take a Veteran to School Day is HISTORY’s popular public affairs outreach program, connecting veterans from all walks of life with students in schools and communities nationwide. In 2019, schools in all 50 states are expected to participate.

“I am proud to be a part of the History Channel’s Take a Vet to School Day Initiative at P.S. / I.S. 49,” said State Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr., a member of the Senate Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs Committee. “It gives the students a chance to speak directly with a veteran and learn about what it takes to be in the military, the different roles someone can have while serving the country, and to hear some incredible stories. I would like to thank Charter Communications, History Channel, P.S. / I.S. 49, and of course our veterans for helping to bring this wonderful event to the children.”
“With more than 10,000 veterans working at Charter, we are proud to partner with HISTORY to celebrate Take a Veteran to School Day in New York City,” said Adam Falk, senior vice president of State Government Affairs at Spectrum. “By sharing their remarkable stories of service with today’s students, we ensure tomorrow’s leaders understand and appreciate their devotion to our nation.”
