• Rensselaer County ordered to end ICE collaboration by Aug. 25 (wamc.org) — State officials have ordered the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office to end its cooperation agreement with federal immigration authorities by August 25 under New York’s new Local Cops, Local Crimes Act. The change could affect how the county jail handles immigration cases and access to certain state grants, and has drawn sharp disagreement between Governor Hochul and county Republican leaders.
