1 Clerk Nabbed In Underage Drinking Enforcement Sweep In Riverhead: PD

RIVERHEAD, NY — A Riverhead clerk was nabbed during a recent underage drinking sweep in the area, police said.

According to New York State Police, on Tuesday, officers from the Riverside barracks conducted the underage drinker enforcement operation in Riverhead. During the operation, one retail establishment was cited for selling an alcoholic beverage to an undercover state police operative under the age of 21, officials said.

Eric Ortega, 36, of Wading River, a clerk at 7-Eleven on W. Main St. in Riverhead, was arrested and charged with first-degree unlawful dealing with a child and prohibited sale of an alcoholic beverage, police said.

The following establishments were also checked and found to be in compliance:

1. KD Beer and Smoke on W. Main St. in Riverhead.
2. Lucky Liquors on W. Main St. in Riverhead.
3. Quick Stop Deli on W. Main St. in Riverhead.
4. Bolla Market Mobil on Middle Country Rd. in Calverton.
5. Bolla Market Sunoco on Middle Country Rd. in Calverton.
6. Valero Food Mart on Rte. 25A in Wading River.
7. Alpine Wines & Liquors on Rte. 25A in Wading River.
8. Speedway Gas on Rte. 25A in Wading River.
9. Thirsty Cellar Wines & Liquors on Rte. 25A in Wading River.
10. USA Village Beverage & Market on Wading River Manor Rd. in Wading River.
11. Gulf Market on Old Country Rd. in Riverhead.
12. Mobil Mart on Old Country Rd. in Riverhead.
