19-Year-Old Critically Injured In Manorville Head-On Crash: PD

The crash took place on Moriches-Middle Island Road Wednesday night, police say.

MANORVILLE, NY — A 19-year-old from Shirley was critically injured in a head-on crash in Manorville Wednesday night, police said.

According to Suffolk County Police, the crash took place on Moriches-Middle Island Road, just north of Sunrise Highway at 10:15 p.m. Juan Carlos Osorio Tejada, 34, of Rocky Point, was driving a 2016 BMW south on Moriches-Middle Island Road, just north of Sunrise Highway, when the vehicle crossed into the northbound lane and crashed into a 2021 Honda Civic, police said.

The driver of the Civic, Jonathan Starrantino, 19, of Shirley, was airlifted by Suffolk County Police aviation to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition, police said.

Osario Tejada was taken by ambulance to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries; both vehicles were impounded for safety checks, police said.

The roadwaywas closed as police investigated the crash.
