2 Nabbed In Riverhead Underage Vape, Tobacco Sale Sweep: Police
See which businesses were nabbed for selling vape and tobacco products to patrons under the age of 21, according to police.
RIVERHEAD, NY — Two people were nabbed in a tobacco and vape sale compliance check throughout Riverhead Thursday.
The Riverhead Town police department's community-orientated policing enforcement, or COPE division, with cooperation from the Riverhead Community Awareness Program, conducted the sweep at 13 retail vendors throughout town, resulting in two arrests, police said.
The compliance check targeted the sale of tobacco and vape products to patrons under the age of 21.

The following vendors were found to be in compliance, police said:
Mobil, 1575 Old Country Road, Riverhead
Citgo, 1050 Osborne Avenue, Riverhead
BP, 1356 Old Country Road, Riverhead
Gotham Smoke, 1085 Old County Road, Riverhead
7-Eleven, 1050 Old Country Road, Riverhead
Speedway, 870 Old Country Road, Riverhead
Empire Gas, 640 Old Country Road, Riverhead
7-Eleven, 162 Old Country Road, Riverhead
Bapa Card & Gift, 769 Old Country Road, Riverhead
Shell Gas, 626 W Main Street, Riverhead
Riverhead Stationery, 407 E. Main Street, Riverhead

The following vendors were found not to be in compliance, police said:
One Stop Smoke Shop, 1698 Old Country Road, Riverhead
Polish Town Deli, 432 Pulaski Street, Riverhead
A 22-year-old Riverhead employee of the Polish Town Deli and a 25-year-old Riverhead employee of One Stop Smoke Shop were arrested and were each charged with one count of second-degree unlawful dealing with a child, a misdemeanor, police said.
Both were processed and released on a desk appearance ticket with a future court date, police said.
