2 Riverhead Teens Arrested After Attempted Burglary: Police
They broke a window and were found inside the card shop, police say.
RIVERHEAD, NY — Two teens were arrested after they were caught trying to burglarize a card shop in Riverhead, police said.
According to Riverhead Town Police, the incident took place at 9:58 p.m. Wednesday night. A commercial alarm sounded at Bapa Cards and Gifts, located on Old Country Road. When officers arrived, they found broken glass from a window at the front of the store then stopped two boys, 14 and 16, at the rear of the store, police said.
The teens were identified and it was determined that they had left the Timothy Hill Ranch; police decided further investigation was needed and both were turned over to Timothy Hill Ranch staff, police said.

On Thursday, both teens were arrested and charged with third-degree burglary, police said.
They were released on desk appearance tickets and turned over to the staff of Timothy Hill Ranch, police said. The 14-year male has a future court date at Suffolk County Family Court and the 16-year male has a future court date at the Suffolk County Supreme Court Youth Part, police said.
