2 Teens Rescued From Bay After Boat Overturns
They were uninjured and reunited with their parents at the marina, police say.
RIVERHEAD, NY — Two teens were rescued from the Peconic Bay Wednesday after their boat overturned, police said.
According to Riverhead Town Police, a call came in at 3:06 p.m. about the vessel and two teens in the water. Police, along with the marine unit and a New York State Department of Environmental Conservation boat that was in the area, responded and found the flipped 13-foot Boston Whaler, with the two youths, 15 and 16, in the water, officials said.
The teens were taken back to the marina to their parents uninjured by DEC police; the Riverhead Police Department's marine unit was able to right the boat and towed it back to the marina, police said.
