26-Year-Old Stabbed During Riverhead Attack By 3 Men: Police
The assault took place Sunday in Riverhead when they climbed a fence and attacked him from behind, police say.
RIVERHEAD, NY — A 26-year-old was attacked by three men in Riverhead early Sunday, police said.
According to Riverhead police, the incident took place at about 12:35 a.m. in the Northville Turnpike area, near Roanoke Avenue and outside a residence.
The person attacked said he'd sustained a stab wound to his arm during the attack; he did not know the three males, police said. All three attackers were wearing dark clothing with hooded sweatshirts; the man stabbed did not know them, he said.

He told police that the three entered a backyard area by climbing over a fence adjacent to the Long Island Railroad tracks and attacked him from behind, police said.
The man said he was able to fight the three off, but that he sustained the stab wound prior to the three running away in an unknown direction, police said.

He was transported by the Riverhead Town Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Peconic Bay Medical Center, where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries and subsequently released from the hospital, police said.
