5 Reasons Matt Van Glad Deserves Your Vote for Town Board

Riverhead Patch has asked all the candidates for Town Assessor, Town Board and Supervisor to write up five reasons why they deserve your vote next Tuesday, Nov. 8. Here is what Matt Van Glad, a Democratic challenger for town board, wants you to know:

My name is Matt Van Glad, and I’m the Democratic and Working Families candidate for Town of Riverhead Council. I am proud to have been endorsed by the Long Island Federation of Labor, the League of Environmental Voters, U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer and working families from one end of our town to the other.

Here are five reasons I believe you should vote for me. If elected, I will:

1. Work to protect our scenic vistas and rural character by adhering to the master plan.
2. Take a stronger approach to revitalizing Main Street, and increase its momentum.     
3. Control our taxes by streamlining government functions, while respecting the town employees that continue to move Riverhead forward.   
4. Get EPCAL back on the tax rolls by creating a business roundtable.
5. Create a budget and mandate all council members vote up or down on it, rather than abstaining.
