6 Arrested In Riverhead Bust; Heroin, Crack, Marijuana, Scales Found: Police

BREAKING: The search was the result of ongoing investigations into gang activity and drug sales, police said.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A search warrant at a Riverhead home led to six arrests and the discovery of crack cocaine, heroin, marijuana, drug scales and cash Tuesday, police said.

The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office's East End Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at a home on Melene Ave in Riverhead, police said.

The search was the result of ongoing investigations of drug sales and gang activities in eastern Suffolk County and in particular, Riverhead, police said.

Riverhead Town Police, Suffolk County Police Emergency Services, New York State Police and the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation, police said.

Six individuals were arrested including Charles Gamble, 35, of Flanders, Kotarra Jackson, 35, of Riverhead, Madison Murrell, 35, of Middle Island, William R. Brown, 30, of Shirley, Ryan Evans, 36, of Riverside, and James Clayton, 37, of Moriches, police said.

Gamble, Murrell, Jackson and Brown are currently on parole for drug or weapons related charges, police said.

Gamble and Jackson were each charged with two counts of third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, intent to sell, two counts of third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, narcotic drug, second degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia, scales, and seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, police said. Jackson was also charged with fifth degree criminal possession of marijuana, police said.

Murrell was charged with third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, intent to sell, and third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, narcotic drug, police said.

Brown was arrested for an outstanding parole warrant and was also charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, police said.

Evans was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, police said.

Clayton was charged with two counts of third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, intent to sell, fifth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, police said.

Gamble, Jackson, Murrell, Brown and Clayton were held overnight in Riverhead Town police headquarters for arraignment at Riverhead Town Justice Court; Evans was released on a desk appearance ticket, police said.
