Apple Honda Raises More Than $6,000 to Benefit Local Breast Cancer Patients

Riverhead – To culminate Apple Honda’s 2016 Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign during the month of October, Vice President and General Manager Bill Fields presented a $6,250 check to Susan Ruffini, president of the North Fork Breast Health Coalition. This is the fourth year that the dealership has held the event, which is supported by their employees and customers.

The campaign exceeded the goal of $5,000 that Apple Honda had set. The funds were raised through a $50 donation from the dealership for each car purchased in October, as well a dollar donation for each service appointment. Employees and customers pitched in with donations for pink ribbon lapel pins, pink ribbons in memory of a loved one and pink Apple Honda totes. Raffle tickets were also available for deluxe gift baskets.

The North Fork Breast Health Coalition is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization, which supports local breast-cancer patients with programs such as the Helping Hand grants. The organization also offers free services such as yoga, massage therapy, reflexology and support groups to breast-cancer patients and survivors.

Ann Cotton-DeGrasse and the late Antonio DeGrasse founded the organization in 1998.

The DeGrasses will be honored at the third annual Pink Pearl Gala, which NFBHC is holding on Friday, April 7, 6-10 PM, at East Wind in Wading River. Ann will accept the Pink Pearl Community Service Award on the couple’s behalf. The owners of Apple Honda, Flora and Irwin Garsten, will also be recognized with the Pink Pearl Spirit Award.
