EEWN Meetings - What's Happening

 Mary Eisenstein addressed the East End Women's Network on Wednesday, February 27 on a skill that our overly stimulated culture desperately needs - effective listening. Among Mary's key points were Be Comfortable with Silence and Ask Questions Judiciously. 

Mary explained that silence can be a key to processing and understanding the message and crafting a sound response. Silence is truly golden in that it allows you or the person you're communicating with to fully absorb the message and articulate your point.

Asking questions judiciously is a key to effective listening because it can set the person you're conversing with at ease. Mary stressed the importance of asking how and what as opposed to why, which can put the person you're addressing on the defensive and impair their ability to communicate with you effectively.
