The Jamesport Meeting House Chorus will perform a semiquincentennial anniversary celebration of the United States of America on Sunday, June 7 at 4 p.m. at the Jamesport Meeting House – a building that was already four decades old when the Revolution began! The concert will feature the inspiring “Song of Democracy” by Walt Whitman set to music by Howard Hanson. Other selections include the Clemens “Sanctus,” “Riversong” by Andy Beck, and “Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat” by Frank Loesser. There will also be special arrangements of favorite patriotic songs as well as the traditional tune “The Water is Wide.” Don’t wait another 250 years to hear this talented 26-voice chorus under the direction of Marguerite Volonts accompanied by Jeffrey Wentz at piano. Enjoy a celebration in song in the acoustically wonderful space of the 1731 Jamesport Meeting House, 1590 Main Rd. in Jamesport. Tickets are only $20 each and may be purchased online through the events page at www.jamesportmeetinghouse.org.
