Clerk Injured In Riverhead Gas Station Robbery: Police
She slapped and kicked the clerk before stealing scratch-off tickets and fleeing, police say.
RIVERHEAD, NY — A Mastic woman was arrested after she injured a clerk during a Riverhead robbery Friday morning, police said.
Janelle C. Edwards, 35, was charged with second-degree robbery, third-degree assault, and petty larceny, all misdemeanors, after the incident at a gas station on Peconic Avenue, Southampton Town police said.
The robbery took place at the 76 Gas Station at 11:25 a.m.; a clerk said he had been robbed and hurt when, after Edwards tried to leave the store after he confronted her for stealing merchandise, she slapped and kicked him, police said.

She then grabbed New York State Lotto scratch-off tickets and fled the area, police said. The clerk was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, police said.
Edwards was found by police at the Riverhead train station and arrested, then taken to Southampton Town police headquarters, where she was held for arraignment, police said.
