Daring Rescue as Firefighters, Police Save Man, Dog from Fire At Trailer Home: Police
Police pulled the man to safety through a window, police said.

RIVERHEAD, NY — In a daring rescue, police and firefighters raced to save a man and his dog from a burning Riverhead trailer home Sunday, police said.
According to Riverhead Town Police, on Sunday at 4:56 p.m.,. police and the Riverhead Fire Department responded to a working structure fire at the Oakland Ridge Trailer Park, located at 1795 Osborne Ave., lot #49.
Upon arrival, Police Officer Anthony Montalbano and Police Officer James Lydon located Marek Staszek, 30, in a bedroom, police said.

Officer Montalbano pushed in the bedroom window air conditioning unit and was able to wake up and grab onto Staszek, who was sleeping in the smoke-filled room, police said.
Officers Montablano and Lydon pulled the resident to safety through the window, police said.

Riverhead Fire Department firefighters were successful in locating and rescuing Staszek's dog, police said.
No one else was inside the residence at the time of the fire, police said.
