Drunk Long Island Mom Crashes With 3-Year-Old Daughter in Car: Police

RIVERHEAD, NY — A mother drove drunk with her 3-year-old daughter in the rear seat— and crashed the car, police said.
According to Riverhead Town Police, Janvena C. Minter, of Mastic, who had been driving a 2000 Hyundai, was arrested on Saturday at 1:30 a.m. at an accident scene on Sound Avenue between Roanoke and Horton avenues.
Police determined that Minter was intoxicated; she was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, Leandra's Law, a felony, police said.

Minter was transported to Riverhead Town police headquarters and held for arraignment; the child was turned over to a family member who responded to the scene, police said.
The vehicle was impounded, as per Leandra's Law, police said.
