Female Passenger In Car Had Stun Gun, Controlled Substance: Cops

The man was stopped for speeding and his female passenger was nabbed for having a stun gun, police say.

CALVERTON, NY — A passenger in the car of a man stopped for speeding in Calverton was caught with a controlled substance and a stun gun, police said.

According to New York State Police, on Friday at 7:10 p.m., Nicholas J. Noulis, 25, of Brookhaven, was stopped for speeding on New York State Route 25 and, upon further investigation, was found to have marijuana.

He was charged with fifth degree criminal possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of marijuana, police said.

Amanda T. Papp, a passenger in the vehicle, was found to be in possession of alprazolam, a controlled substance, and the stun gun during the investigation; she was charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon, police said.

Both were issued an appearance ticket and are due back at Riverhead Justice Court on Aug. 13, police said.
