Female Pedestrian Killed In Shoreham Crash: Police
The woman who died has not yet been identified, police say.

SHOREHAM, NY — A female pedestrian was killed in a Shoreham crash Sunday night, police said.
According to Suffolk County Police, the crash took place in the westbound lane of Route 25A at 6:10 p.m. The Suffolk County Police Department's Seventh Squad detectives are investigating the crash, during which an adult female was crossing the westbound lane of Route 25A in front of the Rocky Point Fire Department when she was struck by a 2018 Hyundai SUV, police said.
The woman, who has yet to be identified by police, was transported to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson where she died from her injuries, police said.

The driver of the Hyundai, Paula Avent, 36, of Rocky Point, was alone in her vehicle and not injured, police said.
Police said they are investigating why the woman was crossing the road. The Hyundai was impounded for a safety check, authorities said.
