Former County Lawmaker George Guldi To Be Arraigned Wednesday: DA
George Guldi's conviction on grand larceny and insurance fraud charges was overturned by an appellate court but charges remain, DA says.

RIVERHEAD, NY — Former Suffolk County Legislator George O. Guldi, whose conviction on grand larceny and insurance fraud charges was overturned by an appellate court last week, will be arraigned in Riverhead on Wednesday, Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said.
“The appellate court reversed the convictions but the charges remain and we are considering our options,” District Attorney Spota said.
The appellate court found the judge erred by not dismissing a prospective juror who worked for AIG, the DA said.

The insurance firm American International Group, or AIG, paid $863,473.30 by check for the 2008 loss of Guldi’s Westhampton Beach home; it was alleged that Guldi stole the funds from Countrywide Home Loans and deposited them into his bank account, Spota said.
Convicted by a jury of second degree grand larceny and third degree insurance fraud, the former county lawmaker, who turned 64 Tuesday, was sentenced in 2011 to serve three to nine years imprisonment on the grand larceny conviction and one to three years imprisonment on the insurance fraud charge to be served consecutively, the DA said.
