A fundraising campaign on GoFundMe has been created to help raise money for funeral and family expenses for the relatives of David DeCarle, a Riverhead resident who was killed in a motorcycle accident on Monday afternoon.
According to the GoFundMe page, started by Lorenzo Cricchio, DeCarle is survived by his wife Ksenia, and an infant son.

DeCarle worked long hours at the Port Jefferson Ferry, often at opposite times of his wife, that way their son would never be without a parent, according to the page.
Recently, he was away from his family for two months to find a job in the southwest as border patrol.

“He ached to be with his family once again and was determined to make a better life for him, his wife, and his son- and to watch his son grow up,” Cricchio wrote on the GoFundMe page. “Many in the motorcycle community will miss him, will feel for the sorrow his son may have to endure growing up and want to help in any way they can.”
The goal is to raise $10,000, which would all go directly to DeCarle’s family. So far, since the page was created on Tuesday, $3,770 has been raised.
