Police: Riverhead Man Killed in Motorcycle Accident After Hitting Pothole
Crash occurred Monday afternoon.

A Riverhead man died after a motorcycle accident in Riverhead on Monday afternoon, according to Riverhead Town Police.
Police responded to an accident involving a motorcycle on Reeves Avenue in Riverhead at around 4:30 p.m.
Upon police arrival, David Decarle, 37, was found in the roadway with injuries from the accident, according to police.

His motorcycle was lying on its side in the eastbound lane of travel, police said.
An investigation determined that Decarle apparently lost control of the motorcycle and fell after hitting a pothole, police said.

A passing motorist came upon the accident and called 911.
Decarle was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center where he was later succumbed to his injuries and died, according to police.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone who may have witnessed the accident is requested to contact the Riverhead Police Department at (631) 727-4500.
