Gunman Fires Shots After Dispute With Cab Driver, Passengers in Riverhead: Police
A loaded Colt .45 caliber handgun was found in the vehicle, police said.

RIVERHEAD, NY - Shots were fired on Independence Day in Riverhead.
According to Riverhead Town Police, at 10:02 p.m. on Monday, authorities responded to Osborn Avenue after the report of a dispute and gunshots being fired.
Eric D. Ross, 24, of Riverhead, was charged with second degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony, and second degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle for operating a vehicle with a suspended license, police said.

Upon arrival, officers were told that a man in a white Chevy SUV had been in a dispute with a cab driver and its occupants, police said.
While the SUV was leaving, several gunshots were fired from the vehicle, police said.

Police were able to locate a vehicle matching the description on Doctors Path in Riverhead; the vehicle was operated by Ross, police said.
An investigation led to the recovery of a loaded Colt .45 caliber handgun in the vehicle, police said.
Ross was arraigned in Riverhead Justice Court on Tuesday and remanded to the Suffolk County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 bail, police said.
