Hero Officers Save Life Of Man Found Unresponsive In Pond
In a miracle save, a man, found face down in water with no pulse and not breathing was brought back by heroic efforts Wednesday, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — Hero officers saved a man pulled from the water at Grangebel Park in Riverhead Wednesday, police said.
According to Riverhead Town Police, a 911 call came in at 5:11 p.m. from a man who had just seen an adult male fall into the water. The 911 caller said that the man, 44, was floating in the water and he was unable to retrieve him, despite his own attempts, police said.
Upon arrival, Riverhead Police Officer Richard Freeborn and New York State Police Trooper Michael Masino found the man unresponsive and floating face down in the water in the pond near West Main Street, police said.

Officer Freeborn and Trooper Masino went into the water together, retrieved the man, and pulled him to shore, police said. The man was unresponsive, with no pulse, police said. The officers initiated CPR at the scene until a pulse was detected and the man began to breathe on his own, police said.
Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to the scene and transported the man to Peconic Bay Medical Center where he was given emergency treatment and admitted for observation, police said.
