High on Heroin, Driver Hits Cop Car Head On, Saved with Narcan: Police
The East Quogue man was found with a used hypodermic needle and several heroin packets, Riverhead Town police said.
RIVERHEAD, NY - An East Quogue man who was driving while high on heroin slammed head-on into a police car and then needed Narcan, police said.
According to Riverhead Town Police, Jeremy T. Rosendahl, 37, was driving a 2011 Jeep Liberty on Route 25 and West Main Street in Riverhead Wednesday afternoon when he crossed into the oncoming lane of traffic and hit a marked Riverhead Police Department vehicle that was traveling westbound.
The accident happened east of Mill Road on West Main Street, police said. Rosendahl was semiconscious at the scene and a used hypodermic needle and several heroin packets were found in the driver’s compartment of his vehicle, police said.

EMS personnel treated Rosendahl with Narcan at the scene and then transported him to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead; he was placed under arrest and after being treated at PBMC was transported to Riverhead police headquarters for processing, police said.
The police officer was also transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center where he was treated and released, police said.

Rosendahl was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor, criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument, a midemeanor and additional vehicle and traffic violation. He was held at the Riverhead police headquarters for morning arraignment, police said.
