Jan. 6: Sports, Arts, Snow and a Field Trip
Take a look at what's going on around Riverhead this Thursday.

1. Riverhead and Mercy girls' track teams hit the road this afternoon to compete in a at Suffolk County Community College in Brentwood. The meet begins at 5:00.
2. Riverhead (3-3) boys' basketball team faces off against Copiague (4-2). Both teams are 2-0 in League III play and coming off wins Tuesday night. , 60-58 on Tuesday night at home while Copiague beat Smithtown East, 69-62.
3. put out a over the next three days from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. The EEAC's theme of 2011 is 'Art and Passion, the Year of the Collector.' Starting that theme will be a show entitled 'Miniatures.' The show will run from Jan. 14 - Feb. 25.

4. Riverhead Town Board members will take a trip today with members of the media to Fort Devens, a former U.S. Army base sprawling 4,000 acres in central Massachusetts which now contains mixed-use housing, offices and industrial parks. The board is going to take an in-person look at the work done by awho also worked at Fort Devens. Check back with Riverhead Patch later today for a recap of what they saw.
5. Riverhead is expected to get 3-5 inches of snow on Friday night, according to the National Weather Service. to clear downtown roads for the expected snowfall. Hopefully those shovels are not put away quite yet.
