Knifepoint Robbery Reported At Riverhead Store: Police

The robbery took place early Tuesday morning, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A Riverhead store employee was robbed at knifepoint Tuesday morning, police said.

According to Riverhead Town police, a 911 call came in at 6:06 a.m. from Riverhead Stationery on East Main Street about a robbery in progress.

The employee said a male entered the establishment, threatened them with a knife, and removed cigarettes without paying for them, police said.

Riverhead Police patrol officers canvassed the local areas and the suspect was located a short time later near the Riverhead railroad station, police said.

Mandeep Singh, 29, of Manhasset, was arrested and charged with one count of first-degree robbery, a felony, police said. He was transported to Riverhead police headquarters for arrest processing and held for arraignment in Riverhead Justice Court, police said.
