LI Teen Beaten By 5 Others, Who Stole Chains From His Neck: Police

He was assaulted after he left work early Wednesday, police say.

CALVERTON, NY — A teen leaving work in Calverton early Wednesday was assaulted by five other juveniles who beat him and stole his silver chains, police said.

Riverhead Town police said that at 1:14 a.m., the teen, along with his parent, came to the station and reported at around 11 p.m., he was leaving work from his place of business on Scott Avenue in Calverton when the five other teens, who he didn't know, beat him and then stole the two silver chains from his neck. He said he didn't see any weapons during the attack, police said.

They fled in an unknown vehicle in an unknown direction, police said.

Detectives said an initial investigation indicated that both the teen assaulted, and the five others, were not from the Riverhead area, and that the attack was an isolated incident resulting from an ongoing dispute originating in another jurisdiction outside Riverhead.
