Man Arrested After Punching, Kicking Another Man During Robbery: PD

He also forcibly stole $800 during the Riverhead robbery, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A Riverhead man was arrested and charged after a robbery Saturday, police said.

According to Riverhead Town police, on Saturday at 1:50 a.m., a call came in about a robbery in progress on Harrison Avenue. The caller reported that an acquaintance, John E. Jones, 39, of Riverhead, punched him, kicked him, and forcibly stole $800, police said.

He received minor injuries and refused medical treatment, police said. Jones fled the area in an unknown direction and on Tuesday at 1:43 p.m., after an extensive search, he was arrested and charged with third-degree robbery and harassment, police said.
