Man Caught With Stolen Vehicle In Riverhead: Police

The crime was reported stolen in Nassau County, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A Jamaica man was arrested after he was found driving a stolen car in Riverhead Sunday afternoon, police said.

At 3:34 p.m., Riverhead Town police said they received a call from the Nassau County Police Department regarding a stolen vehicle from Nassau County that was entering the Riverhead police jurisdiction, authorities said.

At about 3:43 p.m., Riverhead Town police patrol units located the vehicle, a 2006 Dodge Charger, on Route 58; the vehicle was stopped near Mill Road, police said.

The driver, Bhajenauth Ramsaroop, 26, of Jamaica, NY, was arrested and charged with one count of third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony, second-degree obstructing governmental administration, a misdemeanor, and numerous vehicle and traffic violations, police said.

He was held overnight for arraignment in Riverhead justice court, police said.
