Man Charged After Early Morning Drug Raid In Riverhead Home: PD

The search warrant was issued in response to community complaints of illegal drug activity and foot traffic at the home, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A Riverhead man was arrested after he was found with drugs and drug paraphernalia during an early morning raid Friday, police said.

According to Riverhead Town police, the incident took place at 8:35 a.m. The Suffolk County District Attorney’s East End Drug Task Force, the Riverhead Police Department's detective bureau, the Riverhead Police COPE Unit, a Riverhead Police K-9 unit, and Suffolk County Police executed a search warrant at a John Wesley Village residence, police said.

The search warrant was issued in response to community complaints of illegal drug activity and foot traffic to and from that unit, consistent with illegal drug activity, police said.

Larry Johnson Jr., 45, is a prior felony offender with multiple prior convictions of criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, police said.

Johnson, of Riverhead, was arrested and charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (phencyclidine, or PCP), intent to sell, a felony; three counts of third-degree criminal possession of a narcotic drug, intent to sell, a felony; fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, cocaine, a felony; fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, cocaine, a felony; and second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia, scales, a misdemeanor, police said.
