Man Charged With Robbing, Assaulting Teen In Riverhead: Police

The teen was treated for non-life-threatening injuries after he was robbed and assaulted in Riverhead, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A 16-year-old was robbed and assaulted in Riverhead Monday night, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, at 9:15 p.m., a 911 call came in about a disturbance on Osborn Avenue. Officers arriving at the location were flagged down by the teen, who said he was robbed of his cell phone and assaulted, police said. He then identified the person, who was still at the location, police said.

Antoine X. Thomas, 32, of New York City, was arrested and charged with one count of second-degree robbery, a felony, third-degree assault, a misdemeanor, and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, police said.

Thomas was processed and held for arraignment in Riverhead Justice Court, police said.

The teen was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
