Man Drove Drunk With 2-Year-Old Child in Car: Police

The man was charged with violating Leandra's Law, police said.

RIVERHEAD, NY - A Bronx man drove drunk in Riverhead with a 2-year-old child in his car, police said.

According to Riverhead town Police, Joseph Butler, 37, was arrested on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. on Osprey Avenue after he was stopped for vehicle and traffic infractions.

Further investigation determined that Butler was driving under the influence of alcohol with a child in the vehicle, police said.

Butler was charged with DWI, a felony, according to the Leandra’s Law, as well as endangering the welfare of a minor, police said.

He was arraigned at Riverhead Town Justice Court, police said.
