Man Robbed At Knifepoint In Riverhead: Police

Two men beat him up at knifepoint and stole his backpack, which contained his cell phone, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A man was robbed at knifepoint in Riverhead Thursday, police said.

According to the Riverhead Police Department, a call came in at 2:15 p.m. from a man who said that two men had beat him up at knifepoint and removed his backpack, which contained his cell phone and other items; the men left the area with the backpack, police said.

After searching the area together, police found the men at the bus stop at the Riverhead County Center and the man who'd been robbed identified the pair; the cell phone was recovered, police said.

Steven A. Durham, 36, who is homeless, and Timothy L. Hardge, 32 of Riverhead, were arrested, charged with first degree robbery, and held for morning arraignment at Riverhead Justice Court, police said.
