Man Slashed in Knife Attack on East Main Street: Police

BREAKING: The attack took place at 2:20 a.m. Monday, police said.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A 31-year-old man was attacked on East Main Street in Riverhead early Monday morning, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, the man said that while he was at the Royal Dorado Deli & Restaurant he was assaulted outside the front door by another male patron.

The victim suffered a laceration to the hand believed to have been caused by a knife, police said.

Once back at his Riverhead home, the man was taken by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury to his hand, police said.

The Riverhead Police Department's detective division was notified and responded and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
