Man Sleeping In Car On Side Of Road Had Cocaine, Pot: Cops

The Riverhead man was parked on the side of the road in Cutchogue with the drugs in his car, police say.

SOUTHOLD, NY — A Riverhead man was arrested after he was reported to be sleeping in his car, on the side of the road, with both cocaine and marijuana, police said.

According to Southold Town Police, Nicholas Disalvo, 26, was arrested on Saturday, May 4 at 7:36 a.m. on Oregon Road in Cutchogue and charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Officers responded to a report of a person sleeping in a 2011 Hyundai Elantra parked on the side of Oregon Road in Cutchogue, police said. Officers located Disalvo in the area and, during the interview, noticed the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle, police said.

The vehicle was searched and a bag of marijuana was discovered inside, along with a bag of a white powdery substance that tested positive for cocaine, police said.

Disalvo was placed under arrest and transported to Southold Town Police headquarters where he was processed and released on $100 cash bail for a future court date, police said.
