Man Suffers Skull Fracture After Riverhead Baseball-Bat Attack: Police

He was attacked on Roanoke Avenue Tuesday afternoon, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A 19-year-old was attacked by "numerous" males who beat him with a baseball bat in Riverhead Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Riverhead Police said they were called at 4:30 p.m. to head to an area hospital, where the man had been taken; at first, the location of where the attack had taken place was only identified as somewhere in Riverhead, officials said.

The 19-year-old sustained a fractured skull as well as other injuries during the attack, which further investigation revealed took place in the parking lot of the Fairfield Pines East apartment complex on Roanoke Avenue during the afternoon hours.

One of the attackers hit the young man in the head, torso and legs with a "baseball-style" bat, causing serious injury to his head and numerous contusions on his body, police said.

After the attack, the males fled; police do not know what kind of vehicle they were in or where they headed.

The man who was attacked is being treated at an area hospital, police said.
