Man Sustains Head Injury In Riverhead Assault: Police
The search is on for whoever may have assaulted the man, police say.
RIVERHEAD, NY — A man sustained a head injury during a Riverhead assault Tuesday, police said.
According to Riverhead Town Police, the incident took place at 11:47 p.m. when a call came in from a Segal Avenue home, requesting medical assistance for a man who has received a head injury due to a fall. The man had been assaulted and walked to the residence for help, police said.
He still had his belongings; police said. The man was "highly intoxicated" and unable to provide any details about where the incident took place or about whoever had assaulted him, police said.

He was taken by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Anyone who may have witnessed the assault or has information related to the incident is asked to call the Riverhead Police at 631-727-4500. All calls will be kept confidential.
