Motorcyclist Dies In Crash On LIE Exit Ramp: Police
The crash took place in Calverton, killing a Medford man, police say.
CALVERTON, NY — A Medford motorcyclist died in a crash on the Long Island Expressway exit ramp in Calverton Saturday night, police said.
According to Suffolk County Police, the crash took place at about 7:35 p.m. at the intersection of New York State Route 24 and the eastbound LIE Exit 71 off ramp. Yener Can, 39, of Medford, was driving a 2022 Ducati motorcycle southbound on County Road 24 when he struck a 2010 Honda CRV that was turning onto the northbound lanes from the off ramp, police said.
Can was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, police said. The driver of the Honda, William Alberto Rodriguez-Campos, 24, of Shirley was not injured, police said.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
