New Torah Scroll To Be Dedicated At Riverhead Temple
"The Sefer Torah is a testimony of the unbroken faith that links one generation to another, and is a most cherished gift to Temple Israel."

RIVERHEAD, NY —On the seventh day of Hanukkah, Dec. 9, Temple Israel of Riverhead will be dedicating a new Sefer Torah, or Torah scroll.
The date also corresponds to the first of the Jewish month of Tevet, according to a release from the Temple.
The Sefer Torah is a handwritten copy of the Torah, the holiest book in Judaism that meets extremely strict standards of production. The Torah scroll is mainly used in the ritual of Torah reading during Jewish prayers, the release said.
