No Injuries Reported After Fire Breaks Out in East Main Street Apartment Building

A small fire broke out in front of an apartment building on East Main Street on Saturday afternoon, according to Riverhead Town Police.

The Riverhead Police Department to a structure fire at River Pointe Apartments in Riverhead shortly after noon.

Police saw smoke coming from within an unoccupied apartment in the J building and found an active fire in the area of the porch. according to police.

The fire was controlled with fire extinguishers until the arrival of the Riverhead Fire Department at which time the fire was extinguished.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Riverhead Fire Marshal’s Office.
