Pedestrian Struck By Motorist in Riverhead Sustains Serious Head Injury: Police

BREAKING: The accident took place on West Main Street in Riverhead Thursday night, police said.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A pedestrian was airlifted after being struck by a car on West Main Street in Riverhead Thursday night, police said.

According to New York State Police, the pedestrian was standing in the roadway at 10:40 p.m. Thursday night when hit by a passing motorist.

Troopers responded; the operator of the vehicle remained at the scene and rendered first aid, police said.

The pedestrian sustained a serious head injury and was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital, police said.

No criminality is suspected, police said.
