Pedestrian Struck Outside Planet Fitness In Riverhead Dies: Police

RIVERHEAD, NY — A pedestrian struck outside Planet Fitness in Riverhead last week has died, police said.

According to Riverhead Town police, Ryan Falek, 68, of Aquebogue was hit in the parking lot of Planet Fitness on Old Country Road at 9:29 a.m. on September 8.

A woman, 52, driving a 2017 Honda Ridgeline, struck Falek, who was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps. He was treated for his injuries and subsequently transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, police said.

While hospitalized, Falek succumbed to his injuries, police said.

The Riverhead Police Department's detective division and the New York State Police Department's forensic investigation unit responded to the scene to assist in the investigation. It has been determined that the accident was non-criminal in nature, police said.
