Police Investigating Attempted Robbery At Riverhead 7-Eleven: PD

The person gave the cashier a note demanding money, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — Someone tried unsuccessfully to rob a Riverhead 7-Eleven early Wednesday morning, police said.

According to Riverhead Town police, the incident took place at 2:51 a.m. at the 7-Eleven located on Old Country Road. An employee said that a heavy-set person, wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt, dark-colored pants, and a mask entered the store and gave the cashier a note demanding cash from the register, police said.

The employee refused to hand over the money and the person left on foot, heading east, police said.

Riverhead Police patrol units searched, but no one was found, authorities said.
