Police: Riverhead Man Arrested For Stabbing Ex-Girlfriend
The arrest was made on Thursday afternoon, cops said.

A Riverhead man was arrested for stabbing his ex-girlfriend and attempting to run away from officers on Thursday afternoon, according to Riverhead Town Police.
The Riverhead Police Department received a report of a prior domestic dispute occurring in an undisclosed location shortly before 1 p.m., according to police.

After a subsequent investigation, it was determined that Nicholas Sokol, 21, stabbed his ex-girlfriend, Tanisha T. Whitley, 30, earlier in the day, according to police.

Whitley’s injuries were non-life threatening, police said.
After Whitley provided police with a description of Sokol, they located him at the Doctor’s Path Apartment complex as he was exiting a taxi, police said.

As he was approached he fled on foot but was apprehended after a short pursuit and placed under arrest, according to police.
He was processed at Riverhead Police Department headquarters where he was charged with second degree assault, police said.
He was then arraigned at the Riverhead Justice Court where he was remanded to Suffolk County Correctional Facility on $50,000 bail.
