Police: Two Charged in Flanders Home Invasion, Officer Hurt During Arrest
Police say one suspect also caused a serious car accident while fleeing police.

Two men were arrested on Monday for a Flanders home invasion that occurred last week, according to Southampton Town Police.
While fleeing police, one of the men caused a serious car accident and then fought with a police officer, sending the officer to the hospital, police said.
On Tuesday, Nov. 10, police responded to a call of a home invasion at a home on Flanders Road at about 1:10 a.m. The victim told police that three men entered the home brandishing a box cutter, a silver handgun and a shotgun.

The men took over $1,000 from residence without harming the homeowner, police said.
On Monday, police arrested Charles M. Schruggs, 27, of Riverhead, for first degree robbery, first degree burglary and fourth degree conspiracy, police said.

Roy Jones, Jr., 28, of Shirley, was also arrested in the parking lot of the UA Theatre in Hampton Bays, according to police.
While police were attempted to arrest Jones, he took off in a 2011 Hyundai Sonata and drove recklessly in a southerly direction on Springville Road to try to evade police, according to police.
Less than two blocks away, Jones caused an accident which seriously injured a 23-year-old Hampton Bays woman, police said.
Jones then fled the scene of the crash by running on foot and when police caught up with Jones a few blocks away, he fought with police, according to police.
One officer was injured and required hospital treatment, police said. The officer was released from the hospital in stable condition.
Jones was arrested and brought to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of his crash related injuries.
He was given a bedside arraignment for first degree robbery, first degree burglary, fourth degree conspiracy, assault on a police officer, leaving the scene of an accident with serious physical injury, unlawfully fleeing a police officer, third degree aggravated unlicensed operation, DWI, resisting arrest and obstruction of governmental administration.
