Public Invited To Talk Issues With Riverhead Police Chief Saturday

The Heart of Riverhead Civic Association's March meeting will feature a conversation with Riverhead Chief of Police David Hegermiller.

RIVERHEAD, NY — The community is invited to meet with Riverhead Town Police Chief David Hegermiller Saturday to discuss the issues facing residents.

The Heart of Riverhead Civic Association’s March meeting will feature a conversation with the Hegermiller; the event will be held at 11 a.m. at the Riverhead Free Library, located at 330 Court Street.

"Continuing the goal to connect HRCA members and the greater community with town officials, the conversation with Chief Hegermiller will explore the inner workings of the Riverhead Police Department, the state of our township, and how residents can support the officers and help to improve and maintain town safety," the HRCA said.

Civic Vice President Steven Kramer added: "We appreciate Chief Hegermiller taking the time to join us and are looking forward to continuing our discussion on quality-of-life issues that impact our diverse downtown and in generating and advancing equitable, inclusive, innovative solutions to those issues."

The March 18 meeting will also include a brief presentation by the Riverhead Business Improvement District on the current state of downtown, upcoming events of interest and volunteer opportunities, the group said.

HRCA was established to "amplify the voices of local residents and businesses and to share concerns, shape the future and strengthen the community," the group said.

Membership is open to residents and friends for $25 or $50 for local businesses.
