Resident Suffers Smoke Inhalation In Aquebogue House Fire
The homeowner was inside trying to put out the fire with a garden hose, police say.
AQUEBOGUE, NY — A fire broke out in an Aquebogue home Monday afternoon, police said.
Riverhead Police and the Riverhead Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire on Phillips Lane at 4 p.m. The fire was contained to the kitchen area and the homeowner was inside attempting to extinguish the flames with a garden hose, police said.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze and the homeowner was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center and treated for smoke inhalation, police said.

Riverhead Police detectives, the town fire marshal, and the Suffolk County arson squad were notified; the fire does not appear to be suspicious in nature, police said.
