Residents Return To Find Thief In Kitchen Of Their Home: Police

He was caught with money and jewelry that belonged to them, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — Residents returned to their home Friday and found a thief in the kitchen, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, at 4:52 p.m. a 911 call came in from residents who said that, upon returning home to the residence on Tyler Drive, they found the stranger inside the kitchen, without permission or authority to be there.

Frank P. Colaiacomo, Jr., 33, was found with money and jewelry belonging to the residents, police said.

Colaiacomo Jr. was arrested and charged with one count of second-degree burglary and one count of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, police said. Colaiacomo Jr. was processed and held for arraignment, police said.
