Restaurant Depot Coming To Long-Vacant Walmart Space In Riverhead
The Walmart on Old Country Road in Riverhead has been vacant since 2014.

RIVERHEAD, NY — After years of remaining vacant, the former Walmart space on Old Country Road in Riverhead has a new tenant: Restaurant Depot is coming soon.
Walmart relocated from the location at 765 Old Country Road to 1890 Old Country Road in 2014.
Philips International announced Monday that Restaurant Depot, Inc. has signed a 15-year lease at Riverhead Plaza.

“The property’s location along Country Road 58, less than two miles from the Tanger Outlets and only 25 miles from Southampton, is ideal for Restaurant Depot,” said Seth Pilevsky, co-president of Philips International. “The area has a concentration of Restaurant Depot’s target customer base, including local and acclaimed restaurants, vineyards and tourist-attractive farms, making it the perfect location to serve businesses on both the North and South Forks of Long Island.”
Restaurant Depot is a members-only chain selling wholesale food, beverages, equipment and supplies for restaurants and bars, a release said. The business has more than 130 stores in 30 states. Restaurant Depot sells wholesale and retail items, including bulk fresh produce, seafood, meats, frozen grocery items, restaurant equipment and supplies, beer, wine and wholesale spirits.

Of the 65,267 sq. ft. of retail space, 46,733 square feet of the original Walmart space is still available for lease.
“Tenants at the Riverhead Plaza continued to thrive, even after Walmart’s departure, due to the strength and resiliency of the Riverhead submarket,” said Pilevsky.
“We are eager and excited for Phillips International to fill the vacancy left by Walmart and are confident that Restaurant Depot will have much success at this location,” said Riverhead Town Supervisor Yvette Aguiar.
