Reward For Info On Who Bashed Firefighter's Truck With Bat: Cops

RIVERHEAD, NY — The search continues for whoever used a baseball bat to damage a vehicle belonging to a volunteer firefighter in Riverhead, police said.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Riverhead Town Police Department detectives are asking for the public’s help to identify and locate the person used the baseball bat to damage a 2010 Dodge Ram pickup truck that was parked outside the Riverhead Fire Department, located at 540 Roanoke Ave., in September, while the volunteer firefighter was on duty during the night hours.

At 12:30 a.m., on Sept. 29, an unknown individual approached the vehicle and caused extensive damage to the passenger side of the 2010 Dodge Ram pickup by striking the vehicle with a bat; the person left the area in an unknown direction, police said.

The act was captured on video, police said.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
